Co-Managed IT · Thunder Bay & Northern Ontario
Keep your IT person. Put a whole team behind them.
For organisations that already have an IT lead or technician. We bring the 24/7 monitoring, security operations, backup, documentation and escalation. They keep the day-to-day and the ownership.
One person cannot be the whole department.
If you have an IT person, you know the shape of it. They are on call for everything from a printer to a ransomware scare. Nobody covers their holidays. Projects wait because the tickets never stop. The security tools were bought, but nobody has had a week to tune them. And everything they know is in their head.
Co-managed IT splits the work. Your person keeps what they are good at and closest to: the people, the building, the local knowledge. We take the parts that need a team, a 24-hour watch, or a specialist: monitoring, security operations, backup verification, patching, documentation, escalation and projects.
We scope the split in writing against our published what's included list, so both sides know exactly who owns what. And the documentation we build belongs to you, not to us.
- 24/7 monitoring and alerting into our queue, not their phone
- Endpoint and identity protection backed by a 24/7 security operations centre
- Patching, backup verification and the Microsoft 365 security baseline
- Documentation kept current in our platform, exportable on request
- Senior escalation and a second engineer's review before risky changes
- Cover when your person is away, and hands for projects
How the split usually works
Your person keeps
- Face-to-face support and the walk-up desk
- Local knowledge of people, buildings and history
- Vendor relationships they want to hold
- Ownership of the environment and the documentation
We take
- Monitoring, patching, backup and security operations
- Microsoft 365 security baseline and licence reviews
- Escalation, projects and holiday cover
- The quarterly and annual reviews and their paperwork
What we bring behind your IT person
The parts of the job that need a team, a 24-hour watch, or a specialist.
Monitoring They Don't Babysit
An agent on every managed device, patching for Windows and macOS, hardware inventory and health alerts into our ticket queue around the clock. Your person sees the dashboard; they are not woken up by it.
A Security Operations Centre Behind Them
Managed detection and response on every user's devices and Microsoft 365 identity, watched 24/7 by a security operations centre that takes action when a threat is confirmed. One person cannot do that. A team on shifts can.
Documentation That Belongs to You
Your environment, configurations and passwords kept current and versioned in our documentation platform, with your person holding access. If either of us leaves, the knowledge does not.
Escalation and a Second Opinion
A senior engineer to call when something is beyond one person, and a rule we apply to ourselves too: a runbook for any risky change is reviewed by a second engineer before anyone touches production.
Holiday and Sick-Day Cover
Ticket intake is 24/7 through the AI assistant, ticketing, a toll-free line and live chat, with a human helpdesk in business hours. Your person can take two weeks off and come back to a queue that was worked, not one that waited.
Admin Accounts Done Properly
Your IT person gets a dedicated administrator account with multi-factor authentication, and their everyday account stays an ordinary user. A quarterly privileged access review flags any stale or over-permissioned account, theirs and ours included.
Is co-managed the right fit?
Co-managed fits when
- You have at least one person whose job is IT, full or part time
- They are stretched, and projects keep slipping behind tickets
- Nobody covers them when they are away
- Leadership, an insurer or a funder is asking about security and backups
Fully managed fits when
- There is no IT person, or the role is about to be vacant
- IT is currently a "computer person" who has another job
- You want one team accountable for everything, phones included
Either way, the services are the same published list. See managed IT for the fully managed version.
Real engagement
Thirty-four paid licences belonged to people who had already left
an offboarding review across roughly 271 accounts, done with the organisation's own IT team — anonymised, with no invented figures.
