VoIP Telephony · Powered by DVGVoIP
VoIP phone systems that go anywhere.
Modern, internet-based phone systems that cut costs and connect your team from anywhere — across one office or ten.
Stop paying for phone lines you don't need.
Traditional PRI and PBX systems are expensive, rigid, and increasingly obsolete. VoIP delivers the same call quality (often better) over your existing internet connection — at a fraction of the cost. For best results, pair VoIP with a properly designed business network with QoS prioritisation.
DVG Systems provides VoIP telephony through our dedicated division, DVGVoIP, a 3CX Silver Partner delivering hosted PBX and SIP trunking across Northern Ontario.
- Typically lower monthly cost than traditional lines — we price your actual line count and usage first
- Desktop phones, mobile app, and web browser calling
- Auto-attendant, hunt groups, voicemail to email
- Works across multiple offices on one system
- Keep your existing phone numbers
- Month-to-month — no long-term contracts

Why businesses switch to VoIP
Most businesses don't switch phone systems because they're excited about phones. They switch because the old system is expensive, tied to one building, and impossible to change without a technician and a service ticket. A traditional line charges you whether you make a call or not, can't follow your staff when they work from home or another site, and turns "add a new person" into a small project. VoIP flips all of that: your phone system becomes software, so adding a line, changing a greeting, or routing calls to a cell phone is a setting, not a service call.
How DVG handles it
Through our DVGVoIP division, we plan the cutover so your business doesn't skip a beat. That means porting your existing numbers so customers keep reaching you at the number they already have, configuring your call flow (auto-attendant, hunt groups, after-hours routing) around how your business actually runs, and making sure your network is ready — VoIP quality lives and dies on how voice traffic is prioritised, so we tune that as part of the job rather than hoping for the best. Because we also manage your internet and network, the phones and the connection they ride on are handled by the same team.
The Northern Ontario angle
Internet dependence is the honest concern with VoIP, and it's a fair one in the North where a single circuit can be your only link. That's why we plan for it: call-forwarding rules that automatically send calls to mobiles if your internet drops, and backup connectivity options so a cut line doesn't mean a dead phone system. For a business with staff spread across Thunder Bay and outlying sites, one VoIP system also means one phone directory and free calling between locations, instead of separate bills for each office.
Business VoIP: common questions
Can I keep my current phone number?
Yes. Number porting is a standard part of the move — your existing numbers come with you, so customers and contacts keep reaching you exactly as before. There's a short coordination process with your current provider, which we manage.
What happens to my phones if the internet goes down?
Because VoIP runs over your internet, an outage would affect it — so we plan around that. Calls can automatically forward to mobile phones or another location during an outage, and we can advise on a backup connection so you're not relying on a single link.
Is the call quality actually as good as a regular phone line?
On a properly configured network, yes — often better. The key is prioritising voice traffic so calls stay clear even when the connection is busy, which we set up as part of deployment rather than leaving to chance.
We have offices in more than one town. Can they share one system?
That's one of VoIP's biggest strengths. Multiple locations run on a single system with one directory, internal extension dialing, and no per-site long-distance between them.
How is this different from just buying phones from a big carrier?
You get a local Thunder Bay team that sets the system up around your business and answers the phone when you need help — not a national queue. Through our DVGVoIP division we handle the porting, the network, and ongoing support, with a 48-hour deployment for standard setups and a free 30-day trial available.
